You'll do that with a directory re-direct file.
In the existing data path create a text file named idata.dir and in the file type the path i:\data. This will make the client (or server) serve up the files and directories located in i:\data as though they were in the local C:\Lotus\Domino\Data\idata directory.

You're right about this being a bad idea when serving from a different physical box. Works fine though when serving 2 separate drives on the same box.
